YAI Connect – Recordings now available

September 24th, 2026

Following the success of last year’s YAI Connect sessions, the Young Actuaries Initiative has turned the format into a series: a virtual meet-up created by Young Actuaries, for Young Actuaries. So far this year, four sessions covered topics ranging from career moves across borders to credit risk, ageing societies and natural hazard insurance.

Actuaries across borders

The first webinar of the year opened with a panel of actuaries with experience working across multiple countries. They shared their personal stories, from navigating the decision to move abroad, to the realities of settling in, adapting to new professional cultures, and managing a career across borders. Whether you’re actively considering an international move or just beginning to ask “what if?”, this session offered practical insights that rarely make it into the brochure. Interested? An Early Warning System for banking credit risk

In the second session, Raúl Cancino Reyes (Non-Life Actuary, AXA) presented his master’s thesis on the development of an Early Warning System (EWS) for banking credit risk within the Basel III framework. It was a great opportunity for anyone interested in credit risk, AI applications, and the future of actuarial work. If you missed it, explore the full presentation in the recording!

Social sustainability of health insurance in Spain

The third session, “A contribution to the social sustainability of health insurance in Spain: healthcare insurance with aging reserves”, asked how actuarial innovation can help address the challenges of an ageing society. Maria José Preciado presented a forward-looking health insurance model with leveled premiums, designed to ensure long-term stability and accessible coverage in later life. If you are interested in health insurance or longevity risk, watch the recording on actuview.

Premium Valuation in Natural Event Insurance

Most recently, Maria Margherita Corbatti presented her thesis, “Premium Valuation in Natural Event Insurance: An Application to the Australian Case”. She explored the calculation of risk premiums for building insurance against natural hazards, with a particular focus on storm events in Australia. For anyone curious about non-life pricing and climate-related risks, the recording is available on actuview.

YAI would like to thank all participants, attendees and speakers for making these past sessions such an inspiring experience. Your questions, ideas and curiosity are what make YAI Connect work.
