With more than 320 participants from 37 countries, the European Congress of Actuaries 2026 (ECA), held in Paris and hosted by the Actuarial Association of Europe (AAE) together with the Institut des Actuaires and organized by the European Actuarial Academy, once again demonstrated its importance as one of the leading platforms for actuarial exchange in Europe.
The theme was “United in Diversity” – a fitting topic for the Young Actuaries Initiative (YAI), which had the honor of inviting participants to the traditional reception on the evening before the first day of the congress.
Joël Koné (Club Jeunes Actuaires, France) and Martin Oymanns (German Association of Actuaries, Germany) welcomed the attendees on behalf of the Young Actuaries Initiative. They emphasized the importance of exchange and collaboration within the international community of young actuaries – both for individual and professional growth, as well as for the long-term evolution of the actuarial profession. This spirit of connection is also reflected in the recent launch of the YAI community on actubase, further strengthening exchange among young actuaries in the digital space and complementing in-person formats such as the ECA.
Accordingly, ECA 2026 fulfilled its objective of serving as an important milestone for supra-national and interdisciplinary exchange among actuaries in Europe and beyond. The Young Actuaries Initiative is proud to have played a valuable role in helping shape the future direction of the profession.
We are already looking forward to attending ECA 2028!
